Memorial Day

Nothing fancy about the picture- but moving to me.

I haven't had much time to capture shots on camera lately--just my eyes.  But, I am mentally carving out time in my mind for some more Woat shots and wooden fence posts that keep almost causing me to wreck while driving!

Just Playin

Nothing spectacular here, but sharing a little of my few minutes of playing.  I am able to get a little closer now, but the focus sure is mushy around the edges.  Not sure it that is normal, operator error, or if I need to send the lens in for a fine-tuning adjustment that I read about.  I think I will know more when I start some portrait shots- if I can keep the whole face in focus.

I Got IT!!

I have had the hardest time learning to crop images to a 4x4 size and having it print square through Costco.  At one point, I got it to work, months ago-- but then tried again and it didn't.  I am wanting to make some square prints for some Mother's Day Cards- I think I finally have a reliable technique cemented in my brain!! Yay! :) Seems silly, but this has been plaguing me, and it is a relief to get it figured out.

Being A Know-It-All Show-Off

I had a cool thing happen last weekend.  I was at a work event that had some hoopla-- one of our volunteers had arranged for a photographer contact of his to take some pictures of the event.  The "photographer" was an older man, at least 65.  He was trying to take some shots of the sign I had made and had displayed in a frame.  He kept talking about how the flash was washing out the info  on the sign so he took a few different shots- one with flash and one without.  Maybe he was planning on merging them? I don't know.  I don't know his background or his professional training in photography, but he had lots of cool gear.  I very politely asked if he had tried using a polarizing filter to reduce the glare coming off the frame.  He looked at me silently for a minute and then mumbled some things.  About 15 minutes later I saw him return from a trip to his car, attaching a filter. :)  That was fun! :) I don't really know what I am doing with so much of it, but it sure was fun to a have a baby piece of knowledge that might have been the right answer on a subject I so badly want to master.
