Being A Know-It-All Show-Off
I had a cool thing happen last weekend. I was at a work event that had some hoopla-- one of our volunteers had arranged for a photographer contact of his to take some pictures of the event. The "photographer" was an older man, at least 65. He was trying to take some shots of the sign I had made and had displayed in a frame. He kept talking about how the flash was washing out the info on the sign so he took a few different shots- one with flash and one without. Maybe he was planning on merging them? I don't know. I don't know his background or his professional training in photography, but he had lots of cool gear. I very politely asked if he had tried using a polarizing filter to reduce the glare coming off the frame. He looked at me silently for a minute and then mumbled some things. About 15 minutes later I saw him return from a trip to his car, attaching a filter. :) That was fun! :) I don't really know what I am doing with so much of it, but it sure was fun to a have a baby piece of knowledge that might have been the right answer on a subject I so badly want to master.
